1984

A CREATIVE OOH EXPERIENCE

Digital surveillance and Newspeak by G. Orwell.

The Challenge

For the launch of Audible X 1984, we created a standout immersive billboard to promote the release of George Orwell’s book. The campaign represented the heritage of his dystopian masterpiece, 1984. The installation had to capture attention in a crowded advertising landscape while showcasing the visual allure and audio drama of these iconic tales.

Location Southbank, London
Duration 3 Days
Objective Brand Awareness

The Execution

A multi-screen billboard for Audible X 1984, the immersive display included screens that quite literally did the talking, featuring cutouts from the novels playing on mini TVs. The mini TV screens encapsulated Orwell’s work, while the design aimed to capture the attention of passersby through the concept of multiple ’80s TV screens with crackling distortions, tapping into the key themes of his stories. The piece evoked nostalgia and highlighted the essence of the Orwell’s novels.

The Outcome

The immersive billboard successfully created a powerful connection between the themes of 1984 and contemporary society, captivating audiences’ attention by evoking a sense of nostalgia. The builds striking lighting through the TV screens, alongside the audio display, created an engaging experience that stopped people in their tracks. The lighting and sound made it appealing from day to night.
